The Thicket Cottage

This 3,200 sq ft, four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath house sits on Brighton Creek in Darien, GA, overlooking Doboy Sound and Sapelo Island. It is believed to have been built using salvaged materials from several nearby homes blown down in the hurricane of 1825 – an original repurposing project! After several renditions, it was completely restored and modernized in 2014. With a suite on the main floor and three bedrooms upstairs, fully stocked kitchen, and a large den with a large bar and wood burning fireplace, it is the perfect location for family and friends gatherings. Though most will prefer to spend their time outside, enjoying the rare, uninterrupted views!

The most stressful part of your stay may be deciding whether to gather on the large wraparound porch, the screened-in pavilion with fireplace, the patio or the large fire kettle placed creekside. There are plenty of spaces to gather all together or spread out for more intimate conversations. Two of the best spots for relaxing alone or in the company of others is the swinging porch bed and the outdoor sauna. Regardless of where you spend your time, you cannot help but find yourself relaxing and letting the stresses slip away.
